Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Dağarcık, Ahmet Midhat’ın 1872-1873 yıllarında yayınladığı bir mecmuadır. Romancı, gazeteci, eğitimci olan Ahmet Midhat, Tanzimat döneminde hâkim olan eklektik ve ansiklopedist çizgide çıkardığı mecmuada çeşitli konularda telif ve tercüme yazılar yayınlayarak halkı eğitmek yolunu benimser. On sayı çıkan Dağarcık’ta insanları sıkmadan ve zihinlerini fazla yormadan, hoşça vakit geçirterek bilgilendirmeyi amaçlar. \n\n\nABSTRACT\n\nDağarcık is the periodical published by Ahmet Midhat between 1872 and 1873. Ahmet Midhat, who is a novelist, a journalist and an educator, aims to educate the society by publishing various royalty and translation themed works which were particularly written in that periodical in the Tanzimat Period according to the eclectic and encyclopedic ritual. He also aims to inform the readers of Dağarcık by not making them be bored and not causing them fatigue; meanwhile, by making them spend nice time. These articles published in his early writing career seem to be the source for his works in coming days. The thoughts here mentioned and stated will be continued either by being developed or changed in his next novels, articles and other types of his following works. \nMany of the articles in periodical Dağarcık were written or translated by Ahmet Midhat. Apart from them, there were royalty and translation works of various authors and primarily Recaizade Mahmud Ekrem in the periodical. Although this periodical informs us about intellectual points today, it is especially related to the innovative ideas during its publication. The periodical, thus, was found very strange by certain communities and was exposed to various blames. Since the periodical was published without any permission of the Commission of Education, its publication was stopped. Despite its short publication period, it had an important effect on the history of Turkish Media.
