Objectiu: L’objectiu d’aquest treball és esbrinar quins són els principals temes d’interès d’optometria a Espanya. Així com quins són els principals investigadors, en quines revistes publiquen i de quines institucions provenen. Mètode: A partir de la base de dades Scopus, s’ha realitzat una cerca dels optometristes espanyols que tinguin un índex-h superior a 10. Resultats: Un total de 38 optometristes a Espanya tenen un índex-h superior a 10. Aquests índex-h estan entre el 47 i el 10. Només el 24% dels optometristes superen un index-h de 20. Els optometristes han publicat entre 299 i 43 articles. Dels 38 optometristes, 16 són dones; un 42%. Les paraules clau més destacades són: topografia, còrnia, lents de contacte, sensibilitat al contrast, miopia, ull sec i lents intraoculars. Conclusions: Espanya es troba dins dels països on la investigació de la optometria segueix a l’alça; ara bé, encara queda molt per sota respecte altres països com EEUU, Austràlia, UK i Canada. Per altra banda, els temes d’interès de l’optometria espanyola coincideixen amb els principals a nivell internacional. Cal destacar que disposem de molts investigadors que treballen en universitats de la península i que això promou al creixement de la nostra professió. Cal destacar també que molts dels nostres autors publiquen en revistes d’oftalmologia i fora del nostre país. Finalment, l’índex-h és un indicador que pateix alguns desavantatges i probablement hàgim pogut passar per alt algun optometrista de rellevància actual.
