Esse artigo busca analisar como a dimensão do autoconhecimento está presente em materiais didáticos do Projeto de Vida do Novo Ensino Médio (NEM) e como se vincula às estratégias da racionalidade neoliberal. Para isso, discute-se a configuração do Projeto de Vida no interior do NEM e pondera-se a vinculação com o neoliberalismo, a partir de autores como Foucault (2008, 2005), Dardot e Laval (2016) e Han (2017), entre outros. A análise compreende sete coleções didáticas do componente curricular Projeto de Vida, aprovadas pelo Programa nacional do Livro e do Material didático (PNLD), edição 2021, em particular a seção/unidade relacionada à dimensão do autoconhecimento. O estudo caracteriza-se como descritivo-interpretativo de natureza qualitativa. Os resultados apontam que a dimensão do autoconhecimento está alinhada à racionalidade neoliberal, quando notamos a retórica do sujeito ser autônomo e flexível, enfatizado nos discursos sobre protagonismo juvenil. Além disso, essa dimensão preocupa-se em trabalhar as competências sociopsicoemocionais, inserindo o autoconhecimento como uma promessa de preparo do sujeito para o convívio social, escolha de sua profissão, seguido de sua inserção do mercado de trabalho
