Abstract. The Urban Forestry studies have a lot importance to planning, management and research the presence of trees in the city. Those trees help cities to keep a good maintenance of microclimate, aesthetic landscape, flood control, pollution reduction and others. The usually measures of green spaces contain trees but also the lawn, parks, home gardens, public gardens and squares without distinction. São Paulo city have some quarters with a good tree cover and others so few. Its important realize that tree cover is concentrated in the rich quarters and the poor quarter its not so good, even so, the rich quarters have a low biodiversity. The remote sensing give to us the disction betwen diferents classes of vegetation and a measure of tree cover.
