Abstract
Abstract: Military History as topic: the contributions of Cristóvão Ayres (1851-1930), the Revista de História (1912-28) and Fidelino de Figueiredo (1888-1967). Between the end of the Nineteenth Century and the National Dictatorship (even during the Estado Novo), the Military History was a traditional one. However, we can observe a proto-scientific attempt from the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century on. Cristóvão Ayres and Fidelino de Figueiredo, both Sociedade Nacional de História’s founders, devote themselves to military topics. The first one wrote some works on this issue, the second one worked these questions only in an episodic way, opting for a testimonial writing entitled O Pensamento Político do Exército, published in 1926. The aim is to analyze this tract in a comparative way with works by Cristóvão Ayres and articles from the Revista de História.
