Abstract
Ce document présente la journée mondiale du diabète a vu le jour en 1991 à l’initiative de la fédération internationale du diabète et de l’organisation mondiale de la Santé. Elles ont célébré chaque année le 14 novembre, date d’anniversaire du médecin et scientifique canadien Frederick Banting, qui avait découvert l’insuline avec son confrère Charles Best en 1922. La journée mondiale du diabète est devenue une journée officielle des Nations Unies en 2006, avec l’adoption de la résolution par l'Assemblée générale de l'ONU.
