Abstract
La présente étude analyse la représentation de l’expérience de la honte et de la culpabilité vécue par les femmes dans la communauté kabyle en France et dans la communauté algonquine au Québec, et ce, à partir du récit autobiographique Ma mère, ma fille, ma sœur de l’écrivaine kabyle Mila Younes et du conte Ikwé, la femme algonquienne de l’écrivain amérindien Bernard Assiniwi. Le premier chapitre aborde les notions de la honte et de la culpabilité et privilégie une approche interdisciplinaire qui met en lumière les théories développées dans les domaines de l’anthropologie culturelle et de la psychologie. Ce chapitre vise surtout à démontrer le lien entre la honte et la femme autochtone dans un contexte de double colonisation ainsi que les répercussions que cette condition implique en ce qui concerne la honte. Le deuxième chapitre est consacré à l’étude des deux ouvrages sous l’optique de la honte et analyse les descriptions de la honte individuelle et collective afin de mettre en valeur l’approche théorique esquissée dans le premier chapitre. L’importance de l’acte d’écriture est abordée dans le troisième chapitre afin d’insister sur son effet cathartique conduisant à l’expiation.
