Abstract
Au Canada, le Québec est la seconde province à accueillir le plus d'immigrants chaque année. L'immigration d'un pays peu développé vers un pays plus développé augmenterait le sentiment d'autonomie des femmes et les amènerait à actualiser des attitudes se rapprochant de l'égalité entre les hommes et les femmes. La présente étude vise à évaluer si l'immigration au Québec influence l'adhésion des femmes immigrantes à l'égalité entre les hommes et les femmes. Des entrevues semi-dirigées menées auprès de onze femmes immigrantes provenant de diverses origines questionnent leurs perceptions en lien avec le genre, l'autonomie et l'égalité de genre. L'approche constructiviste oriente la méthodologie et l'analyse est basée sur la théorie du féminisme postmoderne. Les résultats de l'étude suggèrent que l'adhésion à l'égalité entre les hommes et les femmes a effectivement été influencée par l'immigration au Québec et des facteurs d'influence ont été soulevés par les participantes. Des pistes d'orientations de recherches futures sont présentées en conclusion afin de pousser davantage le sujet de recherche.
