Los inuksuit.Otra forma de ver el mundo Recientemente han aparecido varios libros de carcter general (cfr.Banville-Cormier 2002, Hallendy 2001, Wallace 1999, 2001), orientados ms a la diversin del lector que a la formacin del docente 1 , sobre los inuksuit, forma plural de una palabra esquimal cuya traduccin suele ser algo relacionado con el hombre, o mejor todava, algo que puede actuar tal y como lo hace el hombre.Estos inuksuit no son otra cosa que construcciones, mayormente de piedra, dispersas a lo largo de las glidas tierras rticas y cuyas funciones pocos imaginan.A pesar del carcter ocioso de estas ediciones, resulta complejo explicar por qu hay un vaco de estudios sobre este mbito de la esquimologa, que se antoja imprescindible para la correcta comprensin del universo inuit.La importancia de los inuksuit dentro de la sociedad esquimal es enorme; gracias a ellos pueden incluso salvar la vida.Por esta razn sorprende su ausencia en obras de referencia como The Handbook of North American Indians (Damas 1984), al igual que en las publicaciones ms relevantes sobre esquimologa (e.g.Birket-Smith 1963).Este aparente desconocimiento no deja de ser irnico, teniendo en cuenta que se trata de unos objetos ciertamente famosos tanto en Canad, donde adornan la entrada o el jardn de muchas casas,
