Abstract
Notre étude analyse l’impact de la précarité en emploi à l’égard de l’engagement syndical des enseignants. Cette étude d’une facette de la crise du syndicalisme adopte la perspective de renouveau syndical. La revue de la littérature nous permet de postuler que la précarité en emploi a un effet négatif sur l’engagement syndical. Grâce à une enquête électronique portant sur les conditions de travail et la vie syndicale d’un syndicat d’une région du Québec, nous avons eu accès à un échantillon formé de 379 enseignants précaires sur un total de 1132 répondants. Nous constatons que la précarité en emploi a un effet mitigé à l’égard de l’engagement syndical. Effectivement, les précaires sont moins nombreux à vouloir demeurer membre du syndicat. Par contre, ils croient davantage en la grève comme moyen de pression indispensable quoiqu’ils soient bien moins nombreux à y participer.
