Macroeconomic determinants of remittances: evidence from Romania

Abstract
The empirical study is based on panel data, in order to demonstrate the determinants of the remittance inflows, from the states where Romanian migrant workers sent more than 1% of Romania's total remittances during the period 2010-2017. Though these states comprise USA and Canada, we decided to perform the econometric research only for European states, due to the significant comparative difference between the mobility conditions: the migration policy of the US and Canada is selective, with a visa regime, while there are no barriers to free movement and selectivity at the level of the European states and Israel.
