Sulla base di queste considerazioni, lo studio archeometrico di ventisei campioni ceramici rivenuti a Salapia (tab. 2), effettuato grazie alla collaborazione tra il Davidson College (USA), la McGill University (Montréal, Canada) e le sopraccitate Università di Foggia e Siena, ha avuto il compito di fornire indicazioni utili per rispondere a tre domande archeologiche fondamentali: 1) Salapia era un centro produttivo? 2) Quali materiali venivano importati a Salapia? 3) Quali sono le prospettive future di ricerca per il repertorio ceramico di Salapia?
