La propuesta de un banco para los pobres impulsado por el economista Muhammad Yunus ha revolucionado el mundo desde su creación en 1983; observando las condiciones económicas en las que vivían las personas en Bangladesh decidió otorgar créditos de mínima cuantía con el fin de promover el emprendimiento que posteriormente mejoraba la calidad de vida de las comunidades más vulnerables. Este modelo ha sido replicado en diferentes ciudades como es el caso de Medellín, donde se puede encontrar el programa Banco de los Pobres, Banco de las Oportunidades que busca servir de apoyo al crecimiento económico y social de la ciudad, integrado de manera estratégica con otros programas de la denominada Cultura E que le han permitido a Medellín ser una de las ciudades más admiradas del país y a los emprendedores hacer sus sueños realidad.
