Deze notitie is gebaseerd op een publicatie van het Ontario Ministry of Education (1985) getiteld: Programming for the gifted: A support document. Canada, Toronto: Author. De bedoeling van deze modellen is om, samen met leerlingen en leerkrachten en ouders, werkwijzen te creëren die méér aansluiten op de onderwijsniveaus en metacognitieve potenties van cognitief (hoog)begaafde leerlingen. Bij elk model kunnen diverse leerlingen het onderwerp of de vraag bepalen en samen werken aan de uitvoering van het onderzoek. Ook leerkrachten, ouders en andere personen (professionals) kunnen meewerken bij de nadere invullingen of uitwerkingen. Waar gewenst, wil ik zo mogelijk ook participeren in de verdere ontwikkeling van deze aanpak. De onderwijsmodellen zijn aanvullingen op allereerst noodzakelijke, ook structurele veranderingen in scholen ten behoeve van het stimuleren van cognitief (hoog)begaafde leerlingen (zie bijv.
