Abstract
Étudié sous tous ses angles depuis plus de 200 ans, l'arc électrique est encore aujourd'hui un sujet d'actualité en recherche. Procédé énergétiquement très efficace, il est d'autant plus intéressant dans une région comme le Québec où l'électricité est facilement accessible à peu de coût. Il est utilisé dans plusieurs domaines comme la métallurgie, les lampes à décharge, le traitement des déchets, la soudure et les disjoncteurs. Le projet développé au CRTP (Centre de Recherche en Technologies des Plasmas) s'intéresse au domaine de la métallurgie, et plus particulièrement aux fournaises à arcs multiples. Son but est de modéliser les interactions entre les arcs, habituellement alimentés par un courant alternatif (a.c.), présents dans ce type de fournaises afin de mieux comprendre les phénomènes physiques qui s'y déroulent. Les distributions de température, de vitesse ainsi que les champs électromagnétiques sont donc les grandeurs à l'étude. Ce mémoire est un premier pas vers la réalisation de ce projet et consiste à modéliser un arc à courant continu (d.c.) influencé par un champ magnétique externe à l'aide du logiciel commercial de CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) FLUENT©."--Résumé abrégé par UMI
