Des trombes d'eau. Un vent infernal. En quelques minutes, la petite ville de Woodfoll dans le grand Nord canadien est balayée par une tempête d'une violence inouïe. Plus d'électricité, plus de téléphone, un paysage de fin du monde.Comme le reste de la région, la prison de haute sécurité n'a pas résisté à l'ouragan. La panne électrique a ouvert les portes, libérant quatre tueurs, parmi les pires de leur espèce, des violeurs, pédophiles et meurtriers récidivistes qui se retrouvent dans la nature.Quand des cadavres sont retrouvés, sauvagement mutilés, les soupçons se portent forcément sur les évadés. Mais sont-ils les vrais coupables de ces atrocités ? Lou Grynspan, ancienne profileuse de la police du Québec, mène une enquête aux frontières de la raison. Un voyage au bout de l'enfer qui va hanter ses jours et ses nuits…
