Abstract
The essay investigates the genesis, the language, and the relationship between the two authors of the documentary Oceano Canada, directed by Andrea Andermann in 1971, hosted and co-written by the writer and screenwriter Ennio Flaiano. Born as five television episodes, it was re-edited in 2022 as a 90 minutes feature film. Oceano Canada is an anthropological and intimate journey through Canada's endless expanses, between personal stories and unknown cultures. A travel journal and a reflection on the loneliness of a great screenwriter. The essay analyses the genesis, the language, and the relationship between the two authors.
