Abstract
Este estudo constitui-se uma pesquisa teorica que discute a enfermagem em reabilitacao gerontologica, atraves das realidades encontradas nos Estados Unidos; Franca; Canada e Brasil. Foi realizado atraves da compilacao de artigos de periodicos cientificos indexados, em bases de dados que contemplam registros franceses, canadenses, americanos e brasileiros, no periodo compreendido entre 1966 a 2000, enfocando a enfermagem em reabilitacao gerontologica. Tendo como finalidade a organizacao do conhecimento existente, para o atendimento em enfermagem em reabilitacao gerontologica baseado nas evidencias teoricas e adaptado as necessidades de cada tipo de servico. Realizou-se o processo de analise dos conteudos, por meio da categorizacao dos mesmos. Ao final da analise, pode-se concluir que a funcao do enfermeiro em reabilitacao e : de educador; treinador para atividades que afetam a vida na sociedade; avaliador de incapacidades, promotor da prevencao de incapacidades e dos altos gastos com servicos de Saúde. Necessita-se de mais investigacoes acerca da realidade das funcoes desempenhadas pelo enfermeiro brasileiro na reabilitacao do idoso
