Abstract
Le modèle médical occidental a tendance à tout mettre en œuvre pour lutter contre la maladie, le vieillissement et la mort, sans se fixer de limites claires. Cette approche peut engendrer des traitements potentiellement excessifs, notamment en fin de vie, sources de souffrances, de gaspillage de ressources et de dépenses inutiles. Nous soutenons l’idée que réintégrer la notion de limite et de finitude dans la pratique médicale revêt une importance cruciale. Dialoguer, parler de la mort avec nos patients, travailler leurs espoirs, fixer des limites et introduire précocement une approche axée sur la qualité de vie fait partie des éléments qui permettront à la médecine de demeurer accessible aux besoins des générations futures.
