The prevalence of acute gastrointestinal illness and associated risk factors in a remote northwestern Ontario First Nations community
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This thesis is an investigation of the prevalence of acute gastrointestinal illness (AGI) and associated risk factors in a remote Northwestern Ontario First Nations community. A retrospective, cross-sectional study using mixed methodologies was conducted between September 2006 and October 2008. Information about demographics, food and water consumption, and the occurrence of AGI was collected. The 28-day prevalence of AGI was 41.9% (95% CI 27.0 - 57.9) among households and 18.6% (95% CI 8.4 - 33.4) among individuals. The prevalence of AGI among individuals was 2.6 to 2.9 times higher than prevalences determined by other Canadian studies. Failure of households to boil, treat, and/or filter their water (OR: 7.2, p=0.058) and consumption frozen vegetables (OR: 5.8, p=0.064) were significant predictors of AGI in the final multivariable household model. Further research regarding AGI prevalence, risk factors and under-reporting is needed to fully describe the burden of AGI in remote First Nations communities.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
