Abstract
Tutkielman aiheena on suomalainen urheilujournalismi ja sen suhde itänaapuriin. Tarkoituksena on vertailla sen mahdollista muutosta Neuvostoliiton ajalta ja verrata sitä aikaan sen hajoamisen jälkeen. Vertailukohteiksi olen valinnut Calgaryn ja Soulin olympialaiset vuodelta 1988 ja Albertvillen ja Barcelonan olympialaiset vuodelta 1992 sekä Lillehammerin talvikisat vuodelta 1994. Miten urheilujournalismin painotukset ovat muuttuneet olympiauutisoinnissa? \n \nPrimäärilähteenä käytän Helsingin Sanomien urheilutoimituksen olympiauutisointia ja Yleisradion Urheiluruutua sekä sen olympiauutisointia. Taustana käytän suomalaisten urheilutietokirjojen olympia-analyysejä ja yhteenvetoja kyseisistä kisoista. Käsittelen myös Ville Pernaan jakoa, jolla hän jakaa Suomen ja Neuvostoliiton suhteet ja ystävyyspolitiikan kolmeen tasoon. Tarkastelen myös yleisesti Suomen ja Neuvostoliiton suhteita, suomettumisen käsitettä sekä journalismia laajemmin. \n \nKeskeisin tutkimustulos tutkielmassani on, että Neuvostoliiton erityisasema suomalaisessa urheilujournalismissa oli merkittävä. Neuvostoliiton hajottua pienempien entisten neuvostotasavaltojen edustajiin, kuten Baltian maiden urheilijoihin, suhtauduttiin positiivisemmin kuin venäläisiin. Tämän lisäksi varsinkin jääkiekon asetelma muuttui urheilujournalistien käsittelyssä suhteessa Suomen itänaapuriin.
