Abstract
El presente trabajo pretende conocer cual fue el modelo argumentado por la iglesia Católica con respecto al matrimonio hacia finales del siglo XVIII. Para ello, se utilizan algunos periódicos de finales de dicho siglo con el fin de observar las permanencias, cambios y adaptaciones del discurso eclesiástico. Todo ello para comprobar algunas ideas: 1) las posibles aportaciones e influencias el pensamiento ilustrado; 2) el acercamiento al proceso de creación e influencia de la opinión pública en el conjunto de la sociedad; 3) el conocimiento de los elementos utilizados para configurar la imagen del matrimonio: la cuestión referente a la intervención paterna, el elogio del matrimonio, la educación para el mismo y a la función que se le reservaba.
