Abstract
Lenito Robinson-Bent nació en la Isla de Providencia, 1956. Se graduó en Educación y Lenguas Modernas en Tunja. Bilingüe por nacimiento en inglés y español, aprendió francés como autodidacta. Cursó maestría de Literatura Francesa en la Universidad de la Sorbona. De esa época, 1984, es la escritura de su primer libro de cuentos. Trabajo como profesor en San Andrés y Bogotá. Vive en Montreal, Canadá. La publicación de su libro "Sobre nupcias y ausencias" en 1988 fue la génesis de la literatura isleña, pues ningún autor nativo había publicado hasta entonces. <br>Sus fuentes remotas son las "anancy", historias traídas dedsde el continente negro por tradición oral, y los relatos de viajes de hombres de mar que salían a trabajar en la construcción del Canal de Panamá o en aserríos de Centroamérica. La muerte es la principal obsesión temática en estos cuentos. <br>Se complementa con el mar, los marineros tatuados, los ancianos, el amor, los nietos criados por abuelos y las ausencias totales. Aparecen en ellos el drama, el prodigio, lo sobrenatural, los sueños y las supersticiones como parte de la cotidianedidad. "Los otros cuentos que aquí se presentan-anuncia Claudine Bancelin en el prólogo-hacen parte de un libro que Lenito tiene inédito y que escribió recientemente en Montreal. La primicia es un abrebocas de su trabajo desde el exilio. Porque es con el mar que incia esta serie de cuentos que se reunirán bajo el título de "Las casas huidizas y otros cuentos sobre fugas".
