Le présent mémoire a pour objectif l'étude expérimentale de l'usinage à haute vitesse des pièces à parois minces. Des travaux de recherche dans le domaine visent actuellement l'élimination des vibrations régénératives dans ce procédé d'enlèvement de métal à haute performance. L'idée fondamentale est l'étude du comportement vibratoire afin d'identifier les fenêtres d'opération qui offrent, soit le meilleur fini de surface, la meilleure productivité ou une optimisation de ces deux critères. La première partie de notre recherche s'est concentrée sur la caractérisation de la dynamique du procédé et sur l'usure des outils de coupe. La seconde sur l'identification des effets de la variation des divers paramètres de coupe. Finalement, nous avons inclus à nos recherches l'étude de l'effet des fluides de coupe sur le procédé d'usinage. \n \nSpécifiquement, ce mémoire vise l'amélioration de la qualité du fini de surface et l'optimisation du taux d'enlèvement des opérations d'usinage (ébauche et finition) d'une pièce typique à parois minces en alliage d'aluminium 7050 T7451. Les travaux expérimentaux exécutés consistent en l'usinage à haute vitesse de blocs d'aluminium dans lesquels trois plans d'expériences factoriels sont utilisés pour analyser les effets et les influences des paramètres d'usinage sur le fini de surface. L'analyse de ces effets permet conjointement l'optimisation du critère de la qualité du fini ( R a et R vk ) et du critère de productivité. \n \n
