Après avoir quitté prématurément l’UQAM, où il fut professeur en sciences de l’éducation de 1989 à 2015, le philosophe et essayiste Normand Baillargeon s’est tourné vers l’écriture avec un entrain renouvelé et une vivacité peu commune. Auteur de nombreux ouvrages, parmi lesquels on trouve L’ordre moins le pouvoir. Histoire et actualité de l’anarchisme (2001), Petit cours d’autodéfense intellectuelle (2005) et Enseigner au Québec (2016), on peut le lire chaque samedi dans Le Devoir, où il tient une chronique sur les questions liées à l’éducation. Titulaire d’une maîtrise en physique de l’Université Laval et d’un doctorat en histoire et sociopolitique des sciences de l’Université de Montréal, Yves Gingras est professeur au département d’histoire de l’Université du Québec à Montréal depuis 1986. Chercheur prolifique, il compte à son actif près d’une dizaine de monographies et plusieurs centaines d’articles savants. Il est aussi un communicateur reconnu que le public a le plaisir d’entendre régulièrement sur les ondes d’Ici Première. À l’occasion de la parution des essais Un philosophe à l’école et Pour l’avancement des sciences, je me suis entretenu séparément avec leur auteur respectif, Normand Baillargeon et Yves Gingras, sur des sujets pour lesquels ces deux penseurs ont exprimé une sensibilité commune.
