INTRODUÇÃO.O sofrimento mental tem sido assunto na comunidade acadêmica que discute sobre o adoecimento de professores e estudantes, o estresse laboral e a depressão que afetam o desempenho acadêmico, aumentam a evasão, culminam nos recentes casos de suicídio e deixaram a comunidade em alerta e em busca de soluções para mudanças nas relações no espaço acadêmico.O Programa de Educação Tutorial Participação e Controle Social em Saúde motivou a criação de projetos para discutir a saúde mental na universidade na forma de oficinas que foram orientadas pelo teatro do oprimido, ferramenta potente em experiências terapêuticas com grupos.O público alvo foi de estudantes da área da saúde e trabalhadores de serviços públicos de educação e saúde.Houve 34 participantes na ação que é vinculada à pesquisa "Desafios da participação social na Atenção Básica: análise dos conselhos locais de saúde na cidade de Porto Alegre e estudo comparativo com experiências de participação nas casas da saúde na Itália".
