Abstract
he dog (Canis lupus familiaris) arrived with humans (Homo sapiens) in North\nAmerica. In this article, it is possible to find prehistoric and historic information\nabout dogs that lived in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and on the\narchipelago of Canada. Some of these dogs are the Village dog, the Wool dog,\nthe Great Plain Indian dog, the Tahltan Bear dog and the Eskimo dog. In\nCanada, the majority of dog remains were found in British Columbia. However,\nsome archeological dog bones were also found in Quebec and Ontario. Some\nof these dogs were used for their hair and meat, for rituals, for hunting other\nanimals, for pulling sleigh and to transport merchandise. Finally, this article\ngives archaeological and ethno-historical information about dogs that lived in\nCanada.
