Abstract
Azja Południowa i Wschodnia w polityce zagranicznej Francji jest uwarunkowana historycznie poprzez francuskie panowanie w Indochinach. W latach 90. XX w. Francja angażuje się w porozumienie pokojowe dla Kambodży z 1991 r. W 1993 r. odbyła się pierwsza wizyta zachodniego przywódcy François Mitterranda w Hanoi. Działania Francji podejmowane są na rzecz integracji Wietnamu z ASEAN oraz normalizacji stosunków Wietnamu ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi. \nZ inicjatywy Francji i premiera Singapuru w 1996 r. zostają ustanowione szczyty Azja–Europa. Od września 2006 r., nauczanie języka francuskiego w Laosie, we wszystkich sektorach, ma wsparcie w ramach uruchomionego projektu FSP VALOFRASE (2006–2009) (rozwój nauczania języka francuskiego w Azji Południowo-Wschodniej), ustanowionego dla trzech krajów Frankofonii w południowo-wschodniej Azji, Kambodży, Laosu i Wietnamu. Jest to innowacyjny projekt w obszarze regionalnej i wielostronnej współpracy, który opiera się na partnerstwie między pięcioma organizacjami: Międzynarodowej Organizacji Frankofonii Stowarzyszenie Uniwersytetów Frankofońskich), Wspólnoty Francuskiej Belgii, Francja, rząd Quebec i ministerstwa edukacji z trzech krajów.
