Abstract
This study addresses persistent organochlorine contaminants in the arctic marine biota with emphasis on the bowhead whale. The author investigated the relationship between foraging behavior and migration of the whale and subsequent effect of contaminant profiles accumulated in this species, and he studied bioaccumulation and spatial distribution of organochlorine contaminants in prey of the bowhead whale and its associated food web. Biological samples from various species were collected from northern Alaska and northern Canada.
