Abstract
La tesi analizza il fenomeno dell’esodo dei rifugiati siriani dalla Siria verso la Germania, con particolare attenzione alle dinamiche politiche, giuridiche e sociali che hanno contrassegnato tale processo migratorio. L’indagine si fonda su una selezione di studi accademici in lingua italiana e inglese, nonché su articoli di stampa, al fine di offrire una prospettiva articolata e multidimensionale del fenomeno. Il primo capitolo esplora le strategie adottate dai rifugiati siriani nel periodo 2011-2013, focalizzandosi sul primo approdo nei paesi limitrofi — Turchia, Libano e Giordania — e sulla risposta politico-normativa di questi stati alla crescente pressione migratoria. Il secondo capitolo esamina il passaggio dei rifugiati verso l’Europa, analizzando lo sviluppo della cosiddetta "crisi dei rifugiati", le tensioni interne all’Unione Europea e le risposte istituzionali adottate a livello comunitario. Il terzo capitolo, infine, si concentra sul caso tedesco, a partire dalla dichiarazione simbolica “Wir schaffen das!” pronunciata dalla Cancelliera Merkel. Si analizzano l’evoluzione della politica tedesca di accoglienza, il successivo irrigidimento delle misure in seguito a eventi critici – quali gli attentati di Parigi e le aggressioni di Colonia –, l’emergere di movimenti politico-sociali come PEGIDA e AfD, nonché i processi di integrazione e le percezioni della società tedesca nei confronti dei rifugiati siriani. The thesis analyses the phenomenon of the exodus of Syrian refugees from Syria to Germany, with a focus on the political, legal and social dynamics that have marked this migration process. The investigation is based on a selection of academic studies in Italian and English, as well as press articles, in order to offer an articulate and multidimensional perspective of the phenomenon. The first chapter explores the strategies adopted by Syrian refugees in the period 2011-2013, focusing on the first arrival in neighbouring countries - Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan - and the political and normative response of these states to the growing migratory pressure. The second chapter examines the passage of refugees towards Europe, analysing the development of the so-called ‘refugee crisis’, the internal tensions within the European Union and the institutional responses adopted at EU level. Finally, the third chapter focuses on the German case, starting with the symbolic declaration ‘Wir schaffen das!’ pronounced by Chancellor Merkel. It analyses the evolution of German reception policy, the subsequent tightening of measures following critical events - such as the Paris attacks and the attacks in Cologne -, the emergence of social-political movements such as PEGIDA and AfD, as well as the integration processes and perceptions of German society towards Syrian refugees.
