D'une banlieue-jardin à une postbanlieue : exploration des facteurs de déterritorialisation en territoire fidéen

Abstract
Les processus de postsuburbanisation touchent de plus en plus de banlieues-jardin nord-américaines. Sur le Plateau centre de Sainte-Foy (PCSF), les processus de postsuburbanisation à l’oeuvre depuis les années 1970 ont été partiellement accélérés avec l’adoption en 2012 d’un programme particulier d’urbanisme (PPU) par la Ville de Québec (VDQ). Celui-ci visait la requalification du PCSF et, par le fait même, la mise en place d’un habitat et d’un mode d’habiter favorisant la densification, la diversification de ses fonctions et évacuant plusieurs spécificités de la banlieue-jardin. Lors des consultations publiques, le PPU généra un mouvement de résistance citoyenne qui aboutit à l’annulation de certaines exigences proposées de densification dans les quartiers résidentiels. Afin de comprendre comment et pourquoi le PPUPCSF, en proposant une reterritorialisation du PCSF, a entraîné certaines personnes résidentes à ressentir une déprise territoriale, ce mémoire cherche à caractériser les transformations de l’habitat et des modes d’habiter que le PPUPCSF a entraînées et à dégager les imaginaires et sens du lieu qui le sous-tendent. Également intéressé par les éléments de territorialité ayant provoqué l’opposition de personnes résidentes à certaines mesures du PPUPCSF, et donc à réaffirmer l’identité suburbaine conférée au quartier, ce mémoire cherche à mieux comprendre le rôle de leurs imaginaires, des sens qu’ils prêtent aux lieux puis des sentiments éprouvés à leur égard. _____________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Banlieue-jardin, postsuburbanisation, déterritorialisation, requalification, territorialité, sentiment d’appartenance.
