Abstract
Estudia la eficacia de un programa de rehabilitación precoz en accidente cerebro vascular en el Hospital Geriátrico San Isidro Labrador. El accidente cerebrovascular es considerado la segunda causa de muerte y la tercera de discapacidad a nivel mundial. Dentro del grupo de los afectados, una gran mayoría presenta secuelas incapacitantes. Las cifras indican que cada año aproximadamente 15 millones de personas sufren un accidente vascular agudo; de ellas, 5,5 millones mueren y otros 5 millones quedan con alguna discapacidad permanente. El impacto del accidente cerebrovascular es amplio, ya que no solo es una de las principales causas de las discapacidad que existe a nivel nacional; sino que representa un alto costo en relación al mantenimiento del paciente debido a lo prolongado de la rehabilitación para posteriormente lograr su reinserción laboral, en caso fuera posible; de lo contrario, estos pacientes contribuirían a un continuo egreso de recursos del sector salud para las atenciones hospitalarias, ya que dejan de ser parte de la población económicamente activa, y más aún, en el ámbito familiar pasan a ser un costo adicional.
