En este trabajo se pretende contribuir al estudio del mercado de trabajo argentino en el período 2003-2009, analizando aspectos coyunturales y estructurales que no son tenidos en cuenta por las estadísticas básicas. La metodología utilizada incluye las tasas complementarias al desempleo abierto propuestas por el Instituto de Estadística, Geografía e Informática de México, que permiten ampliar el espectro de indicadores a una perspectiva de la situación y el comportamiento más amplia de la que habitualmente se difunde en el uso de encuestas de actividad. Los resultados demuestran que ante bajas tasas de desempleo abierto y altas tasas de empleo aún persiste un cierto nivel de subutilización de recursos, condiciones críticas de ocupación y una considerable presión global sobre el mercado de trabajo.
