Latar Belakang: Resin akrilik masih digunakan sebagai bahan basis gigi tiruan hingga
\nsaat ini, namun kekurangan resin akrilik adalah mempunyai sifat porus. Pada
\npemakaian gigi tiruan terjadi akumulasi plak yang disebabkan karena kasarnya
\npermukaan resin akrilik. Untuk pemeliharaan kebersihan gigi tiruan diperlukan
\ndesinfektan untuk meminimalisir pertumbuhan mikroorganisme. Ekstrak daun
\nbelimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) telah diuji mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri
\nyang dapat menghambat mikroorganisme. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui konsentrasi
\nyang efektif pada ekstrak belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L) sebagai desinfektan
\ndalam menghambat pertumbuhan mikroorganisme yang melekat pada resin akrilik.
\nMetode: Sampel saliva yang sesuai dengan persyaratan dikumpulkan sebanyak 15 ml
\ndan dibagi menjadi dua bagian. Bagian saliva pertama adalah saliva steril dan bagian
\nlainnya akan digunakan untuk kontaminasi bakteri pada resin akrilik. Sampel dibagi
\nmenjadi 4 kelompok untuk masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari kontrol, dan
\nkelompok perlakuan, konsentrasi 10,5%, 20%, dan 30%. Kemudian diinkubasi selama
\n24 jam. Perhitungan koloni mikroorganisme dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat
\nhitung koloni Quebec Colony Counter. Hasil: terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan
\nantara 4 kelompokperlakuan, dengan nilai p=0,000 (p<0,005). Kesimpulan: Hasil
\npenelitian menunjukkan bahwa perendaman resin akrilik heat-cured pada konsentrasi
\nekstrak daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) 30% dapat menghambat
\npertumbuhan koloni mikroorganisme rongga mulut yang melekat pada lempeng resin
\nakrilik heat-cured.
