Em um continente marcado pela heterogeneidade e por enormes dife­renças em diversas esferas, o conceito de americanidade toma por em­preitada a difícil missão de conceber um substrato cultural americano capaz de romper a fragmentação e os limites fronteiriços inerentes à noção de "cultura nacional". Circulando pela América Hispânica (ameri­canidad), pelo Quebec (américantté) e pelo Brasil (americanidade), o conceito e suas variantes apresentam, entretanto, intrincadas dinâmicas internas de inclusão e exclusão, de abertura e fechamento, de atração e repulsão. Através da análise de textos teóricos, comerciais de TV e fil­mes, e trazendo à tona a pouco explorada relação cultural Canadá -­ América Latina, tentaremos lançar luz às complexas estratégias identitárias que determinam a cartografia do conceito americanidade ao redor do continente.
