Étude corrélationnelle transversale de l'orientation motivationnelle d'étudiants en formation initiale à l'intervention en ÉPS

Abstract
La recherche en éducation physique et sportive (ÉPS) révèle l’importance, sur le plan moral, de permettre aux participants d’évoluer dans un environnement qui promeut l’amélioration et l’effort individuel (climat motivationnel de maîtrise) plutôt que la comparaison sociale à autrui ou une norme (climat motivationnel de performance) (Power et Sheehan, 2014; Roberts, 2012; Shields et Bredemeier, 2008). Or, il est également connu que les intervenants, au regard de leur propre conception du succès et de l’échec en sport (orientation motivationnelle), jouent un rôle important dans l’établissement d’un climat motivationnel donné au sein de leur groupe (Duda et Balaguer, 2007; Power et Sheehan, 2014). Cependant, aucune connaissance scientifique n’est à ce jour disponible sur l’orientation motivationnelle de futurs intervenants en ÉPS qui auront, dans une optique d’éducation morale, à mettre en place un climat de maîtrise. Cette étude descriptive de type corrélationnel transversal, réalisée en fonction de la théorie des buts d’accomplissement (TBA) selon Nicholls (1989) et Ames (1992a), visait précisément à examiner l’orientation motivationnelle d’étudiants du Département d’éducation physique de l’Université Laval (DÉPUL) inscrits à des programmes de formation initiale à l’intervention en ÉPS (n = 310). Les variables étudiées ont été l’orientation motivationnelle ainsi que plusieurs facteurs sociodémographiques dont le nombre de sessions complétées dans le programme de formation. L’instrument de mesure utilisé pour sonder l’orientation motivationnelle fut le Questionnaire de Perception du Succès en Sport (QPSS) (Durand, Cury, Sarrazin et Famose, 1996). À la lumière des données colligées et des résultats issus d’analyses statistiques, il apparaît que les étudiants sondés ont une orientation vers la tâche assez élevée (4.57) et une orientation vers l’ego plutôt modérée (3.38). De plus, il est soutenu que le nombre de sessions complétées dans le programme de formation ainsi que le programme de formation n’influencent pas l’orientation motivationnelle, tandis que le genre influence uniquement l’orientation vers l’égo.
