Bajo el supuesto de que, a través del acondicionamiento físico de los lugares en prisión es posible brindar a los reclusos herramientas que garanticen sus Derechos Humanos y beneficien su proceso de resocialización. Se exponen cuatro capítulos, por medio de revisión bibliográfica y once entrevistas semiestructuradas a pospenados y expertos del medio penitenciario colombiano, evidenciando que Colombia, necesita adaptar su entorno penitenciario para cumplir con el fin resocializador. Se propone que todo espacio penitenciario brinde condiciones básicas de vida digna, y que, los lugares esenciales en el proceso de resocialización como los espacios de alojamiento, educación, trabajo, ocio y visitas, utilicen el entorno como instrumento en sí mismo para facilitar el proceso de retorno a la libertad.
