Abstract
Le taux de suicides augmente chez les 15-19 ans, divers facteurs ne facilitant pas leur bien-être. Axés sur la promotion de la santé mentale et la prévention du suicide en milieu scolaire secondaire, les programmes d'aide par les pairs, animés par des adultes du milieu, consolident le réseau naturel de soutien des jeunes et procurent une formation à certaines habiletés interpersonnelles ainsi qu'un soutien aux pairs aidants appelés à fournir une écoute attentive auprès d'autres jeunes vivant des difficultés. Cette étude qualitative descriptive avec une composante évaluative se veut une première approche pour identifier et décrire les facteurs favorables et nuisibles à l'implantation et au maintien des programmes. Le discours des 33 intervenants adultes oevrant dans 15 programmes, relève seize catégories de facteurs: huit liées à l'implantation et huit relatives au maintien des programmes. Les résultats fournissent des indications tangibles sur les forces et les difficultés des programmes.
