Abstract
Les nombreux avantages de l’acier haute-performance (HPS) ont suscité un grand intérêt pour les structures de ponts aux États-Unis. Il pourrait être aussi bénéfique d’introduire ce matériau moderne au Canada, mais la résistance en fatigue et la viabilité économique n’ont pas été bien caractérisées. Dans le cadre d’un projet de pont spécifique au Canada, un détail critique en fatigue sur une poutre d’acier hybride a été identifié et reproduit à l’échelle réelle. Un programme expérimental a permis de tester quatre (4) échantillons afin de comparer leur résistance avec la norme CAN/CSA (2006). Considérant un nombre de données insuffisantes pour l’instant, il n’est statistiquement pas possible de juger de la réelle résistance en fatigue du détail ciblé. Une étude de coûts a également été complétée. Selon les configurations étudiées, les économies peuvent atteindre 6% à 20% seulement par l’utilisation de poutres hybrides avec HPS, comparativement à des poutres d’acier conventionnelles.
