Abstract
This study examines the challenges social workers face in addressing homelessness inrural Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Using interviews and thematic analysis, itidentifies barriers such as limited housing, transportation, and health services. Socialworkers navigate these challenges through collaboration, and client centeredapproaches, despite the emotional demands of their work. The findings extendBronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory by showing how systemic gaps impactrural communities and show the importance of client centered practices. The studyalso found the need for rural specific policies, systemic reforms, and better support forsocial workers to promote equity in underserved areas. Lastly, this study contributesto social work literature by focusing on the unique needs of rural practice andadvocating for targeted interventions.
