Le Roseau commun (Phragmites australis) est une espèce exotique envahissante dans les marais d'Amérique du Nord. Mon projet visait à évaluer l'effet de l'envahissement des marais d'eau douce du Québec par le roseau sur i) la composition et la diversité des assemblages d'oiseaux ainsi que leur abondance relative et ii) sur la répartition spatiale des oiseaux aquatiques en alimentation et l'abondance d'invertébrés aquatiques dont ils se nourrissent. Je n'ai pas observé d'impact significatif du roseau sur l'abondance, la richesse et la diversité globale d'oiseaux chanteurs et aquatiques à des niveaux d'envahissement pouvant atteindre 40%. Certains passereaux spécialistes ou généralistes présentaient des différences d'occupation et d'abondance entre les assemblages végétaux. Cependant, ils étaient davantage influencés par la présence ou la profondeur d'eau que par le roseau. Les invertébrés étaient aussi abondants dans les roselières qu'ailleurs, mais les oiseaux aquatiques évitaient les roselières et préféraient s'alimenter dans les autres formations végétales ou à proximité.
