Abstract
Dr. Gary Warrick, Professor Emeritus, Wilfred Laurier University on: Indigenous-Land Relationships in the Grand River Valley 1784-1851. Tune in to hear Dr. Warrick’s talk which weaves together two research projects that he is currently involved with in collaboration with Indigenous scholars and nations. In the late 18th and early 19th century, the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe (Mississauga) had a close relationship with the lands and non-humans of the Grand River valley. Historical (oral and documentary) and archaeological evidence help us to see that Indigenous-land relationships in the Grand River valley remained relatively the same for thousands of years and continue today despite the impacts of settler colonialism.
