Abstract
Mr. Dennis was born in Oakington, just to the west of Havre de Grace, in 1913. His memories of Harford County include the Susquehanna River icing over, U.S. 40 being a gravel road, Union Ave. being paved with oyster shells, the Havre de Grace race track, the circus "wintering over" in town, the Bayou and Chesapeake Hotels, and the towns house of ill repute. Mr. Dennis also shares his WWII memories of Gen. Patton, dancing with Ginger Rogers and meeting Rita Hayward before she was famous.
