Abstract
Es descriu el procés de la interrupció voluntària de l'embaràs (IVE), combinant l'anàlisi quantitativa i qualitativa. En primer lloc, es descriu la pràctica de la IVE a Catalunya en el marc de la salut sexual i reproductiva a l'any 2008; en segon lloc s'estima la incidència de la IVE i s'identifiquen els factors associats a la IVE a Catalunya a partir de les dades del registre d'avortaments; i, finalment, s'analitza el procés de decisió d'IVE a partir del discurs de dones embarassades de 25-34 anys, tenint en compte les diverses etapes del procés (sexualitat, anticoncepció, embaràs, decisió d'IVE, accés al serveis de salut). El diàleg entre les evidències empíriques de la incidència de la IVE i el discurs de les seves protagonistes permet discutir el concepte d'embaràs no desitjat.
