Le Domaine Maizerets, situé dans le quartier Limoilou, est aujourd'hui l'un des plus beaux parcs urbains que compte le territoire de la Ville de Québec. Ses terrains, qui furent parmi les premiers à être exploités par les paysans nouvellement arrivés en Nouvelle-France, furent la propriété du Séminaire de Québec de 1705 à 1979. Pendant cette période, le Domaine Maizerets connu plusieurs changements tant au niveau de son aspect que de la fonction qu'il remplissait. Toutefois, malgré l'importance évidente de ce site historique, plusieurs éléments de son histoire nous étaient encore inconnus. Les archéologues s'attaquèrent ainsi au problème, entre 1986 et 1999, en réalisant plusieurs fouilles à l'intérieur des bâtiments et sur le terrain du domaine. L'objectif de notre recherche est donc de faire l'analyse des nombreux vestiges mis au jour pour ainsi améliorer nos connaissances de ce site. Dressant un portrait historique et géographique de Maizerets, ce mémoire présente les diverses données utilisées pour l'analyse des vestiges ainsi que les nombreuses hypothèses qui résultèrent de ce processus. En confrontant les résultats des interventions archéologiques, recueillis dans les divers rapports de fouille, avec les données historiques, issues d'archives ou de documents écrits, il nous fut en effet possible d'apporter un éclairage nouveau sur le passé de Maizerets. Ce document constitue ainsi une synthèse, nous l'espérons des plus complètes, de l'occupation de l'ancien domaine du Séminaire.
