Das Landesforstinventar (LFI) ist ein integrales und zugleich differenziertes Beobachtungsinstrument des Waldökosystems auf nationaler und regionaler Ebene. Seit der ersten Inventur (1983-1985) hat sich aber nicht nur der Wald selber, sondern auch seine thematische Eingliederung in den Landschaftskontext verändert. Der Wald übernimmt heute ein breites Spektrum an Leistungen, welche weit über den jetzigen Waldrand hinaus reichen. Wildi & Brassel (1999) postulierten daher eine Landschaftsinventur, welche die Forstinventur integriert. In diesem Artikel zeigen wir, dass das dritte Landesforstinventar (LFI3) im heutigen räumlichen und zeitlichen Ressourcenkontext auch eine Landschaftsinventur geworden ist.
