Ce mémoire a pour objet la facture harmonique de Gaston Ronchon. Rochon, qui est connu principalement pour son travail avec Gilles Vigneault de 1958 à 1978, est parmi les musiciens qui ont le plus marqué la musique populaire au Québec. Outre son travail de musicien, il a consacré plusieurs années de sa vie à la pédagogie. Il a exercé son travail de pédagogue principalement à l'UQAM où il a mis sur pied le premier programme de baccalauréat en interprétation de la musique populaire au Québec. En premier lieu, ce travail présente une démonstration de la méthode d'harmonisation conçue par Rochon. Le deuxième chapitre présente, par le biais de sa méthode, l'analyse harmonique de quatre chansons du répertoire Vigneault/Rochon et de deux chansons issues de sa période après-Vigneault, et ce, dans le dessein de dégager les particularités du « son » Rochon et de mieux comprendre l'évolution de sa facture harmonique.
