Abstract
Cette étude vise à analyser l'importance des États-Unis dans l'œuvre de deux romancières canadiennes: Marie-Claire Blais et Margaret Atwood. Ces deux auteures ont vécu aux Etats-Unis pendant un temps et elles connaissent parfaitement la langue et la culture de ce pays américain. Nous observerons jusqu'à quel point l'expérience des deux auteures à Cambridge (Massachussetts) pendant les années 60 a marqué leur œuvre et leur conception de la littérature. Nous étudierons la représentation des États-Unis qui apparaît dans les textes de ces écrivaines. Cela nous permettra aussi de voir certaines similarités et différences entre l'écriture de Marie-Claire Blais et de Margaret Atwood.
