Abstract
Chaberski w recenzji Kaliguli w reżyserii Anny Augustynowicz (Teatr im. S. Jaracza w Łodzi, prem.: 8 XII 2012) podkreśla, że reżyserka, uważnie czytając dramat Alberta Camusa, stworzyła przestawienie, którego zasadą jest melancholia rozumiana jako bezlitosne i brutalne obnażanie pustki powstałej w miejscu tradycyjnych wartości. Kaligula-melancholik dąży do zniesienia sztucznych podziałów, które społeczeństwo stworzyło tylko po to, by zapewnić sobie dobre samopoczucie. Jednocześnie jednak przedstawienie nie zmierza w stronę nadmiernej uniwersalizacji ludzkiego doświadczenia, a raczej subtelnymi środkami odnosi Kaligulę do dzisiejszej rzeczywistości kryzysu: obraz okrucieństwa władcy staje się metaforą ekonomicznego krachu.
