Indek kewirausahaan global Indo-nesia tahun 2019 menduduki peringkat 75 dari 137 negara. (Acs. Z.J., Szerb, L., Lafuente, E., & Markus G. 2020). Indonesia berada di bawah peringkat Singapura posisi 27, Malaysia 43, Brunai Darussalam 48, Thailand 54 dan Vietnam posisi 73. Ini potret masih rendahnya minat berwirausaan bangsa Indonesia. Lulusan perguruan tinggi yang secara akademik dianggap matang dan diharapkan mampu berkontribusi melalui penciptaan lapangan kerja belum menunjukkan hasil. Kenyataanya mereka lebih suka menunggu pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan pendidikan mereka dan menolak untuk bekerja dibidang lain (Andika dan Madjid, 2012). Untuk itu ada kebutuhan mendesak untuk mendorong mereka memulai bisnis sendiri. Gupta dan Bhawe (2007) berpendapat bahwa kecenderungan anak muda terhadap usaha kewirausahaan dianggap sebagai aset penting di negara berkembang. Persoalannya adalah bagaimana para pemuda tertarik, dan mampu memulai bisnis.
